How it works

Why indoor pets miss out

Animals evolved in constant contact with the earth. Today most pets spend their day on carpet, floorboards and synthetic bedding, with only brief ground contact on walks. The Grounding Heart Pet Bed adds that contact back during the 12+ hours a day your pet spends resting.

  • Conductive fibres in the sleep surface link to your home's earthing system.
  • It draws no electricity. The cord connects to the earth pin only.
  • Fur insulates, so contact happens through paw pads, nose and belly.

Proof

See the connection

A multimeter shows the change in body voltage the moment a paw touches the bed. No power, just a connection to earth.

Safety & setup

Simple by design.

The cord connects only to the grounding port of a correctly wired outlet. No live electricity flows through the bed. Check your outlet with an appropriate socket tester before use, keep cables away from chewing, and follow the supplied setup instructions.

The difference

Conductive grounding fabric sits right where your pet rests, connecting them to the earth through your home's ground socket. A fully waterproof layer encases the whole inner bed, protecting every foam layer at once.

Setup

Set up in a minute.

Connect the cord to the bed, plug it into the earth pin of any correctly wired wall socket, and let them rest. No batteries, no electricity through the bed.

The benefits

What owners look for

Deeper rest

May help your pet settle faster, with less pacing and fewer night wake-ups.

Calmer at home

Designed to support relaxation when home alone, or during storms and visitors.

Joint comfort

Supports everyday comfort for stiff joints, especially in senior and large pets.

Easier mornings

Less stiffness getting up after a long sleep.

Faster bounce-back

May help recovery after big walks, beach days and agility.

Soothes itchy skin

Supports a healthy response to inflammation, helping calm irritated skin and ease the urge to scratch.

Why grounding matters

Every animal was made to rest on the earth.

For dogs

Dogs instinctively dig, sprawl and lie on cool soil and grass. When they're waiting indoors on wooden floors or carpet while you're at work, that daily contact disappears. A grounding bed gives them a familiar place to settle that keeps the connection going.

For cats

Indoor cats may never touch the ground at all. They sleep up to sixteen hours a day, choosing warm, quiet spots. Placing a grounding bed where they already love to curl up turns those long naps into time spent connected to the earth.

Round and rectangular grounding beds in a sunlit garden

The outside, all day

Animals living in apartments or homes without a garden still get a continuous path to the ground.

Calm, restful sleep

A soft bouclé bed they'll choose on their own, with a conductive layer quietly woven in.

Sized for every pet

Round beds suit cats and small curlers; rectangular beds suit dogs who like to stretch out.

What to expect

Give it six to eight weeks

Some pets take to it straight away, others gradually. Experiences vary.

Signs to watch

  • Where they choose to sleep
  • How long they take to settle
  • Stiffness when getting up
  • Behaviour when left alone

Research

What the research says

Deeper sleep

21 days

to more deep and REM sleep in rats

  • Rats on an earthing mat spent less time awake and more time in deep and REM sleep.Ye et al., 2024
  • Adults sleeping grounded for eight weeks nearly all reported better sleep.Ghaly & Teplitz, 2004

Calmer nervous system

67%

rise in vagal tone, a marker of calm, in premature infants

  • Grounding cut skin voltage by about 95% and raised vagal tone while connected.Passi et al., 2017
  • Stressed rats with an earthing mat showed less anxiety-like behaviour.Park et al., 2023

Easier recovery

32 men

showed less muscle damage after exercise when grounded

  • Grounding significantly reduced a blood marker of muscle damage versus sham.Brown, Chevalier & Hill, 2015
  • Grounded sleepers differed in pain scores and markers of muscle damage.Brown, Chevalier & Hill, 2010

Dogs, cats and people share the same core systems for stress, sleep and inflammation. Research in people and rats gives us good reason to expect similar effects in dogs and cats, and we look forward to pet-specific trials.
